The Poulnabrone Dolmen is one of Ireland’s most popular ancient sites.  It was built in about 3,600 BC, so it is also one of the oldest sites in Ireland.  This dolmen was a monument to those buried beneath it. Poulnabrone is located in an area of western Ireland known as the Burren.  It is a place like no other. The land is covered with fractured limestone which gives it an interesting topology.
